I don't think any of my friends saw this the first time, so here's another try:
1)Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.
2) Ask your f-list to post questions in the comments. For example: "One, nine, and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?", "Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?", "Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?"
3) After your f-list has stopped asking questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.
ETA: Feel free to ask lots and lots and lots of questions! I have nothing else to do with my life!
(secret hint: I'm trying to get at least one from each of my favorite fandoms)

Well, this has been news for about two weeks by now, but somehow I missed it until now - Fox has officially renewed The Following for a second season.
I mean, I knew it was going to be pretty awful coming into it.
It's like a pile of Dan Brown meets some kind of Nazi video game meets Left Behind. I don't even know.
The ridiculous thing - well, two ridiculous things - about their attempt to go onto some sort of "Christian Apocalypse" tangent:
One, they keep messing up their Bible references. Last week's involved them quoting a verse and giving a completely incorrect reference, and this week's involved them giving the correct chapter reference for a topic, but mixing up the order of things.
Two, they seem not to distinguish between various types of Christianity. This is significant, because every semblance of established religion we've seen so far has been some flavor or another of Roman Catholicism. However, the literalist, Left-Behind style apocalypse is something that's typically almost exclusive to fundamentalist/evangelical Protestants.
And there's Nazis, and extremely heavy-handed writing, and plot devices, and a villain that managed to be more likeable during the cold open than the main character has been during both of these episodes put together.
Oh, and there's a super-awkward scene involving a Nazi Rosicrucian and a preteen Hindi girl, that I guess is supposed to be touching because of overcoming religious differences or something, but comes off as creepy.
And one half of this episode's storyline can be described as "White people tear into India and f*ck up the locals' lives in their personal quests to do whatever! And the hero was in the right all along."
It's like The River was last year: A complete midseason trainwreck that you simply can't drag yourself away from.
More notably, however, I'm not sure how this one is going to go past 12 (or 13?) episodes. I don't think they're planning for that. I mean, I'd not be surprised if it got cancelled, but I almost want to see it renewed so we can know what kind of nonsense they come up for another season!

It's right here! Come and join it! And I'm going to make a post for the new episode.
...head on over to the comm at
following_show and check it out!
And tell your friends, because currently we don't have any members. And by that I mean if we had any fewer members, it wouldn't be plural!

Since apparently it's been about a month and nobody else has done it.
It's at
following_show If you know anyone else who likes the show, spread the word!
It's at
(because I've come to the conclusion that there are none, or at least none containing all three of "The Following", "Fox", and "Kevin Bacon" anywhere in them)
...would anyone be interested in contributing/promoting it? I'm thinking of putting it out on Tumblr, where tags work better. I'm sad that apparently you can't search . And I guess I can auto-schedule episode discussion posts for hell, the rest of the year, as far as I'm concerned.
And I suppose I could put out a call for co-moderators.
And comms need to have rules, but I think these would cover everything: Set a spoiler warning threshold, trigger warnings, no racism/sexism/etc, no RPF, no character bashing.
I think the biggest work in starting this would regard a layout and images.

Huh.
I like the tag cloud. It's like statistics, which is fun. Even if it's not entirely accurate because I forget about tags most of the time, and I tag hidden entries, and I mostly tag things if I need to get them out there.

OK, so I started watching this show, and I'm leaning towards liking it, but I feel like I'm going to need a flowchart (as well as people who can help me figure out where all those flashback scenes go!) if I want to have a clue what's happening by the end of the season... anyone got any suggestions?
